Michael Dean

Michael Dean, Chair of Vocal Studies at UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music, has performed to great acclaim worldwide in both concert and operatic repertoire, appearing in leading bass-baritone roles with many of the leading opera houses of the U.S. and Europe. He has made frequent appearances at New York City Opera, where he has performed the title role in The Marriage of Figaro, Leporello in Don Giovanni, George in Of Mice and Men, Don Alvaro in Il Viaggio a Reims, and Papageno in The Magic Flute. Before joining the 5th Dementia Band, Dean held a Vocal Techniques and Singing group for Parkinson's patients at UCLA. He had the great idea to merge his group with our 5th Dementia, and now attends rehearsals on Wednesdays to give a short vocal techniques lesson before singing with the band.
