Bill Young

"If you can't figure out your purpose, figure out your passion. For your passion will lead you right into your purpose."

- Bishop T.D. Jakes

Early Beginnings

Bill Young immigrated from Scotland to Montreal, Canada at the age of 20, in the hopes of pursuing a professional soccer career. For many years, he worked odd jobs, later launching a career in real estate management. Soon after, he met his wife, Noemia Oliveira, and together, they started to raise a family.

Family Man

Later, Bill Young and his family packed their belongings, and moved to California. There, he pursued a career in his second greatest passion--music and singing. At one point, Bill was offered a gig singing at a Las Vegas casino. Ultimately, Bill chose to focus instead on raising his children and family, as he loved them so dearly.

Alzheimer's Diagnosis

After decades of hard work and dedication to both his family and his real estate career, Bill was able to retire early. Not long after, he started to show signs of Alzheimer's, which caused great suffering for both him and his family. Though they had overcome many life challenges as a family before, the Alzheimer's diagnosis was terrifying, but they worked together through love to make the best of it.

Joining MMM

Years went by, and Bill continued to decline--until he joined MMM's 5th Dementia Flagship Band. As he rekindled his lifelong passion of music and singing, his energy, cognitive skills, memory, and interaction with others also began to remarkably improve. In the twilight of his life, he found happiness and hope in the world of singing and music he had always known.
