Virginia Janovsky, MN, MS, RN-BC
Neurological Lead Research Nurse
SW Parkinson’s Disease Resource and Education Clinical Center
Virginia Janovsky is currently a research nurse and clinical coordinator for the SW PADRECC (Parkinson’s Disease Resource and Education Clinical Center), one of six VA regional centers in the US. Before becoming a neurology nurse, Virginia was a cardiology nurse for twenty years, after having earned degrees in nursing and health care administration.
Virginia has also been chosen by VA Greater Los Angeles health services scientists to be the lead nurse in a research study trial of an innovative nurse-led proactive clinical program for Veterans with PD. This program intervention is shaped by the American Academy of Neurology and Medicare’s guidelines for achieving quality care in Parkinson’s disease. The nurse administers a comprehensive clinical assessment over the telephone, identifies patient problems and needs, initiates nursing treatments, links patients to appropriate medical and social services, and organizes patient information to facilitate improved patient/provider communication. These actions aim to improve care delivery and ultimately positively impact patient health outcomes.
